Chinese Brush Painting

Thank you to Laxmi Natarajan for spending the morning teaching us about Chinese brush stroke painting!  We learned about different kinds of brushes, techniques, paints, and styles.  We loved watching you mix paint chips, roll your brush to change thickness, and create beautiful, natural plum blossoms and branches.  After the demonstration, students broke into groups to look at books and artwork for inspiration, practice calligraphy letters, and paint their own spring scene in the "spontaneous" brush stroke style using charcoal and paint.  It was incredible to watch the calm control used by the children when painting, it was almost like a soothing exercise.  The results were stunning!
