Weekly Highlights 3/30- Ms. Der Yuen

Monday was the first day we received responses to our Flat Stanley letters and there’s been a steady stream of packages in the mailroom for us since then! We’ve heard about giant crabs at the aquarium in Georgia, mountain biking in Colorado, potatoes and football in Idaho, scuba diving in Florida, farming in Arkansas and Texas, and whale watching in Washington. We’ve heard about many different experiences in New York: hiking along the Erie Canal, the Yankee pinstripes, and even take-out dining! We are blown away by all the thoughtful responses. The kids will be working on thank you letters shortly.

Alex L.: I liked art, learning about states in computers, getting a Flat Stanley letter from Washington, starting Indian in the Cupboard for read aloud, writing chapter XVII in Stuart Little, finishing Sarah, Plain and Tall, and French Week.

Lindsay: I liked getting a Flat Stanley from my grandma in New York, Chinese brush stroke painting, writing chapter XVII for Stuart Little, and French Week (especially the crepe sale!).

Spencer: I liked writing chapter XVII in Stuart Little, starting getting Flat Stanley, Chinese brush painting, learning about the states in computers, crepes, Indian in the Cupboard, and I’m happy that everyone go “or” correct on the spelling test!

Mishal: I liked computers, finishing Sarah, Plain and Tall, our French Week performance, Indian in the Cupboard, computers, science, art, and Chinese brush stroke painting.

MIhir: I liked the brush stroke painting with Mrs. Natarajan and everything else! I really liked crepes, finishing Sarah Plain and Tall, and that everyone got “or” right on the spelling test too!

Brynn: I liked that everyone got “or” right too! I liked PE, math, getting my Flat Stanley from Grandma Cheeto in Georgia, seeing all the Flat Stanleys arrive especially the football from Idaho, doing the alphabet in French Week, crepes, brush stroke painting, and more states and capitals (and hoping that I’ll get Lansing right!).

Brennan: I liked volleyball practice in PE, learning about the states in computers, “Delaware”, Flat Stanleys arriving, and everyone spelling “or” correctly!

Kayla: I liked watching Sarah, Plain and Tall when we finished the book, receiving Flat Stanley from Grandma Barb in New York, writing chapter XVII in Stuart Little, and Chinese brush painting.

Matt: I liked everything! I especially liked computers, PE, math, seeing the Flat Stanleys (especially the Idaho spuds!), and the crepes at French Week.

Riley: I liked everything! I liked the Idaho spuds with Stanley (my grandma rocks!), I liked the crepes, and everything!

Alex C.: I liked everything! I liked PE, science, sharing Flat Stanleys- I got one from Colorado, the Idaho spuds, doing the math brain teaser puzzle, and liked that no one got “or” wrong.

Nina: I liked doing the volleyball practice in PE, gym, doing the drag and drop states in computers, painting with my mom and in art, science, and seeing the Stanleys. I’m looking forward to seeing what will come next!

Maya: I liked basically everything! I liked volleyball practice in PE, getting a Flat Stanley from New York, painting with Nina’s mom, starting Indian in the Cupboard, and math.

Everyone wanted to add that they are looking forward to Mardi Gras!
